Modern Supply Chains for Creative Industries- Leonardo Bonanni, MIT

Date: 10/06/2011 - 10:00 - 13:00

Location:
Oak Room, Mansion House, Dawson Street

CreativeD, in conjunction with the Year of Craft, is providing you with an exciting opportunity to access a leading mind in design and innovation at our next CreativeD event, which will take place from 10.00am -1.00pm on Friday June 10th at the Oak Room in the Mansion House (Dawson Street). Leonardo is the CEO of Sourcemap.org and a doctoral condidate at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Media Lab, where he specialises in the social aspects of product design.

Leo believes that modern supply chains divide consumers from the communities of people that produce materials and finished goods. At the same time, he feels, it's impossible to understand the social, environmetal or economic health of communities without a firm grasp on the goods and services that flow in and out of our communities.

This workshop looks at the way we represent ourselves and answers questions like- Can we find ways to link consumers and producers worldwide and/or locally? Can we make local interests matter to a wider audience?

We'll look at current technologies for self-representation online and through mobile devices and come up with new and innovative ways for local industries to make themselves felt in a local and global context.

In advance of Leo's presentation, the Creative Dublin Alliance (CDA) will talk to CreativeD members about the projects that they are currently working on, including Innovation Dublin. Innovation Dublin will be a showcase opportunity for our members and the CDA presentation will link in well with Leo's thoughts on self-representation.

Please reserve your place at this event as we will have to limit the number of businesses that can attend. Be among them!
