Background
The year 2009 has been designated as the European Year of Creativity and Innovation, allowing the spotlight to fall on Europe's creativity and innovative capacity
CreativeD is actually part of a wider European initiative which is being mirrored in other 7 European places apart from Dublin:
- Nantes Metropole (FR)
- Municipality of Aachen (DE)
- CIDA (Creative Industries Development Agency) (UK)
- Municipality of Eindhoven (NL)
- City of Stuttgart (DE)
- Birmingham City University (UK)
- Cardiff Council (UK)
CreativeD is in perfect line with Europe’s position on creativity and innovation, being itself a partly EU funded project (Interreg IV B NWE), named ECCE (Economic Clusters of Creative Enterprises) Innovation at a European level.
Innovation is built on the previous ECCE project, which succeeded in creating a transnational network of local resource centres for the cultural creative companies. ECCE Innovation/CreativeD is therefore a natural step forward focusing more on the Creative Industries’ innovation capacity.
